Official Alexander County Inmate Search
The official county jail roster is the Alexander County Police-to-Citizen inmate catalog. The sheriff detention page links it as "View Who is in the Alexander County Jail," which makes it the first online channel for a current adult jail inmate. The agency tied to the P2C module is the Alexander County Sheriff's Office, and the inmate catalog shell, search criteria endpoint, and display settings endpoint were found without a login requirement.
P2C should be read as a current jail inquiry tool. It is not a complete arrest-history database, not an NCDAC state prison record, and not a court record. A person may fall out of the public jail roster after release or transfer. Newly booked people may also take time to appear, and a person in another custody system will not be found by changing P2C filters.
The sheriff's detention screenshot in the project image set comes from the official Alexander County detention page.
The page is useful because it places the roster link beside the same local rules for visitation, bond, mail, phone service, and commissary.
Alexander County Roster Search Fields
The official P2C search criteria API exposes the roster fields used for inmate searches. Restricted search is disabled, so a last name is usually the best starting point, with other fields added only when needed. Race and sex dropdowns can narrow results, but they should be used carefully because a mismatch can exclude the correct record.
| Field label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | No | Best first field for a current jail roster search |
| First Name | Text | No | Add when the last name is common |
| Middle Name | Text | No | Useful for narrowing similar names |
| Age | Number | No | App code supports 0 to 99 |
| Charge | Text | No | Searches offense wording |
| Arrest Date | Date | No | App formats dates as MM/DD/YYYY |
| Race | Dropdown | No | Includes W, B, I, A, U, and H options |
| Sex | Dropdown | No | Includes M, F, and U options |
The source image for the search criteria comes from the official P2C search criteria endpoint.
The captured fields explain why a broad search often works better than filling every box on the first attempt.
Use the Alexander County Jail Roster
A good roster search starts broad and then narrows. If a person was just arrested, the roster may lag behind intake. If a person was released, transferred, sentenced to state prison, or held under a different agency, the P2C roster may not show them. The jail phone remains the confirmation channel for close calls.
- Open the P2C inmate catalog from the sheriff detention page or the direct inmate catalog URL.
- Enter the last name first. Add first or middle name only if too many records appear.
- Use age, race, sex, charge, or arrest date as optional filters rather than required proof.
- Review the inmate card and expand details when a see-more control is shown.
- Check charge, bond, court date, and booking agency fields before relying on the result.
- Call 828-632-0304 if the record is missing, recent, or inconsistent with what a family member was told.
For booking photos on a current record, the Alexander County jail mugshots page explains what the P2C image model supports and where North Carolina law limits mandatory release.
Alexander County Inmate Profile Fields
The P2C inmate model and public display settings give a clear field inventory, even though live sample values were not copied. Name, age, race, sex, height, weight, arrest date, court date, primary charge, detailed charges, total bond amount, booking agency, image support, traits, scars, marks, tattoos, and alerts can be part of the public inmate card. The display settings hide other items, including date of birth, home address, holding facility, arresting agency, arrest notes, property, release date/time, and release reason.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full name | Last, first, middle, and suffix if present |
| Mugshot or image | Image route exists when the record has an image ID |
| Arrested | Arrest date displayed as a roster date field |
| Court date | Upcoming court date when present, verified through NC courts |
| Primary charge | Main charge label and description |
| Charges | Expandable charge table with status, docket, bond type, bond status, and amount |
| Total bond amount | Displayed because HideBondAmount is false |
| Traits and SMT | Traits and scars, marks, tattoos may display when present |
Booking, Court Date, and Bond
An Alexander County jail record begins after arrest or warrant service and transport to the Alexander County Detention Center. Jail staff complete intake, verify identity, create the booking record, collect property, take booking photographs and fingerprints as required, screen for medical or safety needs, and assign housing through classification. The P2C fields mirror that path by showing arrest date, charge, court date, bond fields, agency, traits, and possible alerts.
The sheriff's bond section says a judge or magistrate sets conditions of release after arrest and appearance before a judicial official. The jail does not decide bond on its own. The local options listed by the sheriff are cash payment through the Clerk of Superior Court, property bond by an Alexander County landowner, or a bondsman. The sheriff page says bonding agencies generally charge 15 percent of the bond total as a non-returnable service fee, but detention staff cannot recommend a bonding agency.
| Bond route | Local record point |
|---|---|
| Cash bond | Full amount paid to the Clerk of Superior Court as described by the sheriff |
| Property bond | Alexander County landowner may need a current tax statement if the bond exceeds $2,500 |
| Bondsman | Independent bonding agency may post bond; jail staff cannot recommend one |
| No-bond or hold | Another case, warrant, probation, state, federal, ICE, or court hold can prevent release |
Alexander County Records Fallbacks
When P2C does not answer the question, use the full access chain. Call the jail at 828-632-0304 for custody confirmation. Contact the sheriff's main office at 828-632-1111 for routing on booking or jail-operation records that are not visible online. For in-person requests, the Law Enforcement Center is at 91 Commercial Park Avenue, but public counter hours should be confirmed before arrival. The county directory also lists 24-hour non-emergency communications at 828-632-2911.
Court records after charges are filed are handled through the Judicial Branch, not the jail. The Alexander County Judicial Branch page and courthouse public terminals are the better route for case dates, case numbers, and paper court files. NCDAC public records cover state prison and supervision records, not local county jail records.

Alexander County Jail Visit Records
The detention page says all visitors must register and schedule visitation through PayTel. Visits must be scheduled the day before the visit occurs. Each inmate is allowed one free 15-minute public lobby on-site visit per week during that inmate's pod schedule. Remote visits are scheduled through the same PayTel account, but remote-visit fees were not published in the sheriff page research.

Jail Mail Phone and Commissary
Jail support records are tied to vendors and facility rules. PayTel provides inmate phone service on a pay-per-call basis and also handles video visit scheduling. Commissary deposits use a McDaniel Supply Company kiosk in the detention center lobby, with vendor support through jailpackstore.com and 1-800-822-9388. Non-legal mail uses a Greensboro scanning address and must include the facility ID.
| Service | Alexander County detail |
|---|---|
| Phone | PayTel, 1-800-PAY-TELL / 1-800-729-8355 |
| Commissary deposits | McDaniel Supply Company lobby kiosk |
| Commissary support | jailpackstore.com or 1-800-822-9388 |
| Mail scanning | Alexander County Detention Center, Inmate Name, Inmate ID, Facility ID 5002, PO Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419 |
Note: The envelope must include the sender's full return address and the required inmate and facility information, or it will not be scanned.
State Federal and VINELink Records
A person sentenced to state prison from Alexander County should be searched in the NCDAC offender locator. That database covers state prison offenders, probationers, parolees, and historical state records back to 1972. It does not include local county jail records. NC SAVAN/VINELink can provide custody notifications and is documented by NCDAC as covering county jail inmates, state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and sex offenders.
Federal and immigration custody require separate tools. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. ICE locator covers adult detainees in ICE custody or in CBP custody for more than 48 hours. Those systems do not provide Alexander County booking details, local bond, or the county jail photo fields.
